The Church of St. Ambrose
Right next to the upper city gate the church of St. Ambrose is located. This is a one-nave Romanesque-Gothic building, built of finely carved white stone in the 13th century. A semi-circular arch over the entrance door is decorated with crosses in a low relief.
Above it, there is a circular opening, and over it a narrow Romanesque window. The earlier remains of the church of St. Ambrose, now invisible, are related to the existence of the male Benedictine monastery, of which an earliest mention in the documents from 941 has been preserved.
