The early stone age or palaeolithic
The composition of the soil (sand, clay) and the stream of Ričine and Miljašić gully in the narrow area of Nin were favourable for creating habitats and the growing of plants. On the small peninsula which on the west side closes the port of Nin, in a layer of loess fossilised bones (breccias) of diluvial animals were found, which were contemporary genera of Palaeolithic humans.
One famous stone artefact from the early Stone Age in Nin, is a spike of a triangular shape. According to the technique of treatment it can be dated to the Middle Palaeolithic or the Mousterian culture (around 100,000 to 35,000 BC).
